Grand Turk (Turks & Caicos Islands)...
After further two days at sea and surviving the Bermuda triangle, we arrived at Grand Turk ... as you can see with beautiful weather ... sunshine, something between 25-28 degrees ...
As we were the only tourists that day, the restaurants were prepared for us ;-) ... the guy at the beach just putting up the signs ...
They have built a brand new cruise terminal at the South end of the island, with duty free and souvenir shops ... extremely authentic hahaha ...
In the morning we had booked a snorkelling tour at the coral reefs ... on the way to our boat we took this picture ... the ship and the beach ...
Another beautiful piece of photographic art, but you're used to it now ;-)))
So off we went with that boat ...
... and a touch of Caribbean "Cool" ... the very nice crew on board ...
That was the point when we left the water ... to take the photo from the boat ... safety first ... better be safe than stung ... ... but according to the Caribbean Cool Guys it's just a pet ...
On the way back we spotted Ayers Rock (sorry Uluru) in the middle of the West Indies ... but you've already got it, just another piece of art again ;-)))
Here Captain Cool ... ehm "Dan" ... really nice guy, especially after Cynthia found out, that she could talk to him about Cricket ... (he came from Jamaica) ...
... no comment ...
Just before docking we could see hard working people at the pier ...
Then we took a taxi to the "Capital" of Grand Turk, Cockburn ... here the local car wash ...
It turned out to be just a little road with basically nothing ...
... so after some walking around (about 10 minutes) we made our way back by taxi again ... ... in 2009 the hurricane Ike damaged most of the island (see here) ... it took them two months to restore power but luckily no fatalitities there ...
That's the main road ;-)))
And third piece of art ;-) ... called "Ready for the tourists" ... 1) shop 2) mobile toilet 3) waste bin ...
Back to the - new - cruise terminal we went and sat down for a drink in this restaurant / pool area ...
... as you can see here ... there was a local beer "Turk beer" on the menu and of course Thomas ordered it ... only to be told by the waiter five minutes later, that local beer is out ...
As Cynthia had participated in a painting workshop on board and on the evening we left Grand Turk there was an exibition of all artwork produced ... here one of her works ... done with pigment colours ...

And here Cynthia with the "teacher", Sybille Hermanns, a professional artist in her own right ... both got along very well!
Well Grand Turk is great for water sports like diving / snorkelling etc. ... but as a tourist destination for a holiday there is just nothing else there! For us it was perfect!
