Next day, Sylvia and Juan Manuel took us to San Antonio de Areco, an original old town about 1,5 hours North-East … here bicycles on the Autobahn (not the only ones we saw) …
After arriving in Areco, we saw this old bridge, which was – unfortunately – repaired in the most cheap, modern and ugly way possible. Nothing left of the old stones … you cannot believe it!

… a couple drinking “mate”, the national Argentine tea-drink …
This bridge led to the old trade road from Peru to Buenos Aires, where you can still see approx. 400 metres here …
Luckily, we also saw two Gauchos on their horses … they do exist ;-)
Here the four of us in front of the local museum ... unfortunately closed due to an enormous flooding ...
Next we headed to a very old shop for daily goods … see the old lady climbing up the ladder! As Cynthia said, in Australia this would be forbidden due to health and safety regulations!
We saw this cat sleeping behind a chair in this shop … like time stood still here …
… here Cynthia and Thomas in front of the shop … see the old Coca Cola ad above the entrance …
Next we went to the Molina Campos Museum, a famous Argentine painter / artist … he had a cartoonistic style to interpret the life of Gauchos and their horses especially … fantastic!
Here another old shop with shelves of goods, an old Martini sign … have a look – top right – see the shoes?

We had lunch there in a superb restaurant (thanks again Sylvia and Juan Manuel for taking us there!) … here our hosts at lunch …
… and here the four of us … just to prove that we were there also ;-)
On the way home, we saw “street artists”; they perform at red traffic lights and ask for donations then … see the two pins in the air, with which they juggled?
This evening, we also visited Dorothy and Carlos … and as you can see on the photo, it was great for both of them to see each other again!
Monday, first thing, we had to go to the Australian and German embassies to get temporary papers to be able to leave the country again … here us after all that, having a coffee …
Monday night, we invited our hosts, Dorothy and Carlos and Agustin (Sylvia’s and Juan Manuel’s son) for dinner at the restaurant “Tomo I”, which we enjoyed during our last trip …
… and it was great again! We had the feeling, everybody had a great time … and good food! Especially Agustin, who liked to experiment a bit ;-) … here the whole group!
Tuesday, we had to go to the city again to pick up Cynthia’s temporary passport … while taking the train, we could see the “villa meserias” (slums) of Buenos Aires …
Coming back that night, we had a little “pre-dinner-drink” outside … we can definitely recommend our “hotel” (for a little fee we’ll give you the address ;-))))
