On the way to Port Blair ...

After another day at sea, we arrived in Port Blair, on 9. April, not expecting too much ... a group of islands (Andaman), that is closer to Burma or Thailand, but belongs to India ...

We decided to explore the "city" ourselves ... it was basically a prison camp island for the British ... here the main street with its chaos and enormous amount of tuk tuk's ...
... you have to get used to cows and goats everywhere in the streets ... incl. their rear production outcome ...
... fruit shopping in the streets ...
... after not finding the cellular jail (the prison) we luckily found Gowin and his tuk tuk, who took us around wherever we wanted ... he was so nice and friendly (not like the beggars in Burma) that we included a huge tip and payed 500 Rupies for two hours (approx. 8 EUR, 13 AUD) ...
... the first day there were four of us, but a tuk tuk is only licensed for three passengers, so Gowin lost his license and we had to get it back by paying 100 Rupies ... here the on-street repair centre ...
... the second day we called him on his mobile phone (it worked!) and he picked us up from the ship ... and many other drivers were not very happy, that he got the good "tourist" clients ... ... photo showing the "cellular jail", where the British kept Indians ...
... here us inside the cellular jail ... taking a camera in was 10 Rupies extra ...
... Gowin also took us to the airport ... two planes a day ...
So the second day we left in the early afternoon (39 degrees!) towards Cochin, India ...
