August 1st-2nd, 2011, SL Tour Black Forest ...

On short notice - weather report was promising - we took the SL for a two-day trip to the Black Forest, just about 100 kms away from Weinheim ...

The landscape was absolutely stunning, we drove very little roads ... here a picture to imagine the drive ...
Here we had a first stop for a drink ... one of the many typical Black Forest houses ...
Cynthia with her favourite drink (when it's hot) ... a "Russian", German wheat beer mixed with lemonade ...
Here the two of us having a little lunch there ...
After a long drive through many valleys up and down, we had a stop in a town called Schiltach ... beautiful old houses ...
A couple of kms further, we stopped in Alpirsbach, famous for its monastry brewery ... we enjoyed a wonderful beer there ...
After staying the night in a little hotel along the road, we visited an open air museum of typical Black Forest houses ... here a sample ...
... we also saw this calf looking for grass ... reminded us of ourselves ... searching for the last bottle of wine in the house ;-)
Here another beautiful view of the landscape ... btw we had 25-28 degrees that day ...
Here the good old gal (not Cynthia!), the SL ... had its 25th birthday in July! ... took us everywhere ...
Another stop were the highest water falls of Germany in Triberg ... did this stop the Japanese way ... out of the car, get there, take photo, leave again!
We found more "Natives" of the Black Forest ...
... and a little restaurant in the middle of nowhere ( three kms dead-end street into the woods) ... and had lunch there ...
Here the "Hexenloch-Muehle" (witches hole mill) ... is shown on a lot of pictures of the Black Forest ...
Towards the evening we drove to the edge of the Black Forest ...  here another view ...
... to Staufen, where we had a final dinner ...

After dinner we drove home approx. 230kms and arrived back safely at around 11pm. The Black Forest is worth a visit and we will explore more in the future!
