April 10th - Big SL Tour along the river Mosel

As the weather was perfect on good Friday, we decided to take a big tour towards the West of Germany ...

After a 200km Autobahn trip we arrived in Trier, the oldest city of Germany (more than 2.000 years) ... and visited the "Porta Negra", a Roman city gate from the third century a. c.
... here the two of us inside, in the oldest remaining part (left on the picture above).
We had a little walk through the city of Trier, which was lovely ... the photo was taken before consumption of alcohol ...
Then we began the actual tour along the river Mosel (another famous wine region) ... it was lovely to drive along, beautiful weather ... and - as you see on the picture - all the riverside was full of vines ...
In between we had a little lunch at the riverside ...
... finally we found a famous castle in Germany, the "Burg Eltz" ... one of the few that has never been destroyed ... funnily located on a hill, surrounded by a creek ...
... where we enjoyed a drink ...
... then we crossed the mountains towards the river Rhine, drove along a while and had a nice dinner in St. Goar, close to the famous "Loreley"-rock ...

So we used the good weather on that day, drove approx. 540 kms and had a wonderful time!
