Into the city ...

Next morning, after a superb breakfast, Sylvia brought us to San Isidro train station, from where we headed towards Buenos Aires city centre … here in front of their house …
Next to their house was a “kiosco”, where you could buy all the little daily stuff …
… and opposite the “social club” of San Jose … i. e. a little shop, where people of that area gathered for a chat!
On the way to the station, we saw Cynthia’s old school bus (no. 60) … but a lot more of “memory lane” was to come …
… still in the car, Thomas could catch this scene …
We then took the train to Retiro. As we wanted to buy a ticket in San Isidro, we were advised that there is a strike in the morning, so we should take the train for free ;-) …
… as we were arriving in Retiro, the strike was over, but they let us out of the station without ticket … here a photo inside Retiro … what a wonderful building …
First we went into a café at Retiro station, where Cynthia used to go with her mum … and we had a coffee as you can see …
Walking towards the city centre, we shot this photo … the tower of the English …
… here Cynthia happy in the park …
… and the dog walkers … several groups inside a fenced area …
… here the two of us in front of the statue of San Martin …
… and the other side of the statue … as in every city in this world …
Further on we headed towards Calle Florida, the main shopping street … not knowing what laid ahead of us … on the right you see the “Leather Shop”, where we bought five leather jackets (including one for each girl). We took photos, sent them to Germany and with the already taken measures we ordered the jackets!
… here rasta man selling some stuff …
… and then we had lunch – again – in the restaurant “palacio de las papas frittas” (Fries Palace) … here some impressions of the restaurant …
… and the two of us having lunch there …
Unfortunately on the way from this restaurant to the Galleria Pacifico (photo), both our passports and Thomas’ driving license were stolen out of our rucksack … so we spent two hours on the local police station, had to cancel our hirecar (no license, no car) and of course our planned three-day-trip to Mar del Plata … shit happens …
