April 27th 2012, one day in Copenhagen ...

Having a workshop close to and a meeting in Copenhagen, we used the opportunity to have a look at the city afterwards ...

In the evening we had a first walk around town ... here the Mayor's office ...
Our travel guide lead us to a "traditional" restaurant "Sorgenfri" (= no worries) ... food was alright, but the owner was less than friendly ;-)
Next day we started extensive walking around the city ... and one of the first things we found was - close to the university - this bar ;-))
This is a typical example of a street in Copenhagen ... again nice people there in Denmark ...
We also made our way to Nyhavn, the famous picturesque part ... lots and lots of cafes ... unfortunately we didn't have time for a boat cruise around the harbour ...
Here's the two of us in Nyhavn ...
... after another two kilometres we HAD to see the mermaid, a very small statue ... mainly surrounded by tourist buses ;-)
Back to the castle @ exactly 12 o'clock, we watched the guard change there ... again many tourists there ... as Mary is from Tassie, Cynthia had to go there ;-)
After a recommendation of our client, we went to Ida Davidsen, the best (?) smorebrod in town ... here the buffet where you ordered it ... it's basically a slice of bread covered with e. g. fish ... ... and it has to be covered in a way that you don't see the bread anymore!
All tables were booked out for lunch, so we just got this last corner there ... one smorebrod had a salmon-wasabi mixture on it ... yummy!
One of our last stops was the "Round tower" ... here the way up (or down) ... it was designed that you could go up the tower by horse (!)
And finally a view from this tower over Copenhagen ...

So Copenhagen is a lovely city, very expensive (hotel, food, etc.). It was worth a visit and after an hour and twenty minutes of flight we landed back in Frankfurt!
