We were flying to Barcelona on Saturday evening, 10th of March, for three days ... it turned out to be three wonderful days for us. Cynthia's Spanish was excellent ... it helped us a lot there!!!
After 1,5 hours of flight we arrived at midnight in the hotel and had two bottles of champagne in 15 minutes (ok, from the mini-bar, the small ones ;-). Sunday morning we walked for hours through Barcelona. Wonderful weather, sunshine, around 16° ... Here in the background Gaudis "Sagrada Familia", started in the 19th century and still not finished ...
Resting for lunch in a nice cafe at the harbour ... eating Paella ... and meeting a waitress from Argentina -> the world is small!
After a lovely dinner at Port Olympique we went to the old city centre and had a nice bottle of Rioja 'til after midnight ... to find out, that public transport closes then and it is difficult to find a taxi ... but after 30 minutes of walking we finally got one!
On Monday, 12th, we celebrated our one-year-anniversary at the restaurant "Passadis d'en pep", where the Spanish prince normally eats, when he is in Barcelona. We thought, this might be good enough for us ;-))) There's no menu, served is what comes fresh from the market. So we sat down, got cava (Spanish champagne) and the first dishes ... without being asked. But it was delicious!!!
After that wonderful dinner, we went around the corner and had a couple of cavas in the "Vascelum" ... this time we had the restaurant order a taxi for us ... at least we learn!
On our last day, we had a walk through another part of Barcelona ... here one of the houses, that Gaudi designed...
... finished the trip off with another tapas lunch, flew home and arrived safely Tuesday evening in Frankfurt. Barcelona ... definitely a city to visit!
